In the area of college basketball, no name reigns stronger than Yanni Hufnagel. Aside from his tenacious drive in developing talent, Yanni Hufnagel remains responsible for some of today’s most successful NBA players. At a young age, Yanni knew he remained destined for greatness. Therefore, he began demonstrating his leadership skills throughout his youth. Although Yanni Hufnagel remains a prominent college basketball coach, he also remains extremely intelligent. Therefore, he has numerous degrees under his belt. Alongside Eric Musselman, Yanni Hufnagel serves as the assistant coach for the Nevada Wolf Pack basketball team. Prior to working for his Nevada team, Yanni Hufnagel served as an assistant for numerous colleges.


In particular, he once coached for the Harvard Crimson. To this day, Yanni remains a highly respected individual and one of the most sought after recruiters in college basketball. Moreover, Yanni Hufnagel’s story remains remarkable. As a native of Scarsdale, New York, Yanni Hufnagel persevered through adversity. Although it may appear as though he always had a gift in basketball, his upbringing proved otherwise. In fact, Yanni Hufnagel did not make his high school’s varsity basketball team in Scarsdale. However, this did not deter him. In fact, it only made him stronger. Therefore, Yanni Hufnagel used his leadership abilities to gain a position as a commentator for the school’s basketball team. Moreover, he went on to graduate from Cornell University.


Upon finishing an internship with the New Jersey Nets, Yanni Hufnagel served as an assistant coach for the University of Oklahoma. While at the University of Oklahoma, Hufnagel met Blake Griffin. Moreover, he remains responsible for Blake Griffin’s development into a professional athlete. Furthermore, he also earned a graduate degree in education. By 2009, Hufnagel joined forces with the Harvard Crimson basketball team. Moreover, his hard work did not go unnoticed.

Yanni Hufnagel’s Impraessive Career In Coaching Basketball

Yanni Hufnagel left the Wolf Pack to join Nevada as an assistant coach in the bid to bring a fresh outlook on the team. He is known as one of the most proficient recruiters with quite some major names under his belt. The Scarsdale-born assistant coach is known for his impressive work ethics and drives which is one of the reasons why he can build talent from the ground. Yanni Hufnagel started off from Scarsdale High School and picked up the interest of basketball right from commentating to coaching. He first worked as an intern with the New Jersey Nets and later worked with the University of Oklahoma as an assistant coach. He mentored and recruited Blake Griffin who is one of the biggest names in the world of basketball playing for the Clippers. It is at this point that he attained his master’s degree in Intercollegiate Athletics Administration.

Yanni Hufnagel later moved to Harvard where he worked as an assistant coach for the Harvard Crimson team helping them get a huge turn around in their tournaments. He recruited Wesley Saunders and Jeremy Lin who are now in the major leagues alongside Coach Tommy Amaker. He was also voted by his peers as the most likely to make it big time through a CBS survey. Yanni Hufnagel has lived up to this expectation by later joining the Vanderbilt Commodores where he recruited Matthew Fisher-Davis and the famed Wade Balwin IV. Yanni Hufnagel joined the golden bears and was instrumental in the recruitment of Jaylen Brown and Ivan Rabb.

It is at this point he joined the Wolfpack at Nevada. Yanni Hufnagel has impressed the world of NBA with his spot on recruitment. Most of the teams in the leagues are benefiting from some of the players that he recruited and worked on through the years which still makes him one of the most reliable recruiters out there. His experience on and off the court also makes him a sought after resource. He has managed to stay above controversy and build up his career to an impressive empire that seems to be getting better with the years.
